The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville partnered with Colliers Project Leaders to develop and implement an Indigenous Reconciliation and Engagement Plan (the "Plan"). In alignment with community values and municipal goals, the Plan is intended to help the Town join other municipalities across Canada in meeting the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action.

The Plan was informed by evidence-based community research and other participatory processes which focus on using on-the-ground consultations with citizen and stakeholder engagement campaigns. The voices of local community members will be vital in the process of developing, establishing, and implementing the Plan.

In establishing the Plan, the Town is committed to identifying and acting on opportunities to meet specific calls to action by municipalities and to recognize and celebrate Indigenous culture, history and lands where Indigenous Peoples have lived since time immemorial.
